This study was authorized by Historical Resource Study Proposal HUTR-H-2. That proposal called for a Historic Structures Report, Part II, of which this report is the historical data section. The proposal called for a study of all eleven structures at Hubbell Trading Post to insure their proper restoration and interpretation. The same reasons for composing an integrated Historic Structures Report, Part I, still pertain. Furthermore, photographic evidence is largely of a general type, many photographs including much if not all of the Trading Post complex. Individual reports would unnecessarily duplicate this evidence. Then too, the restorative work projected is not of the extensive type necessary to justify a lengthy and detailed study. The construction work will consist mostly of stabilization and minor rehabilitation. This is because the Trading Post complex will be developed as a "living trading post" whose structures appear today virtually as they did in the heyday of the Hubbell operation.
