Historic Structures Report, Part I: Martinez Adobe

Jensen JE and Koue AL. 1969. Historic Structures Report, Part I: Martinez Adobe. Historic Structure Report. U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service

This Historic Structures Report concerns the Martinez Adobe at John Muir National Historic Site. It is proposed to remodel this building for use as an employee's residence. The interior of the structure should be rehabilitated to retain the original decor to the greatest extent possible with changes made only as necessary to provide comfortable contemporary living conditions. The exterior is to be maintained in the historic appearance. The utmost caution would have to be taken to insure the historic integrity of the exterior. The building would not only be a residence, but would also be an exhibit in place because visitors to the park will be able to view the adobe from that part of the trail system which passes near the structure.
