During the spring and summer of 2002, surveys for nesting birds within Effigy Mounds National Monument were conducted with special attention to the new Heritage Addition. Observations were collected from 25 points within the study area. Point Count Surveys were conducted on eight days during the breeding season and additional information was collected during spring and fall migration. A total of 107 bird species were observed - 79 during the breeding season and an additional 28 during migration.
