Stravers J. 2002. Report on Red-shouldered Hawk Inventories and Monitoring on the Upper Mississippi River 2002

Between February and July of 2002, searches were conducted on 27 days for evidence of Red-shouldered Hawks nesting along the Mississippi River in three specific study areas (Kain's Siding/Confluence of the Upper Iowa River, Effigy Mounds National Monument/Yellow River, and Sny Magill/Johnson Slough Complex). Within these three study areas, Red-shouldered Hawks nesting was confirmed in five sites and suspected in three additional sites. Searches in two other areas that have high potential as Red-shouldered Hawk nesting habitat were considered incomplete.
