Survey of Bats on Pea Ridge National Military Park

The purpose of this study was to develop a species list of bats that occur on Pea Ridge National Military Park. A total of 40 bats were caught during sampling in the summer of 2002 comprising three species: Lasiurus borealis, Pipistrellus subflavus, and Myotis septentrionalis The tree species of bats caught are all representative of forest species and would be expected to be in the area. The Eastern Pipistrelle was the most abundant at 52% of total captures. Males were more abundant than females in all species except the Northern Long-eared bat. Four of the female Eastern Pipistrelles were pregnant and only one of the female Red bats was lactating.
