Efforts are underway to rehabilitate the North Junction Overlook area, which is a popular site from which to view Crater Lake. This is a collaborative project in which the Botany program is responsible for revegetation of trampled areas back to native plant communities after new trail and overlook construction is completed. Revegetation progress made during the 2019 field season included collecting seed from 12 different plant species and seeding just under 2,500 pots for propagation. The entire project area was surveyed for invasive plants; none were encountered. Revegetation work is planned to continue into the 2020 season, expanding and increasing seed collection and plant propagation efforts to build a solid foundation of plant materials available for restoration.
