This Historic Structure Report concerns the McBride Ranch House at Lake Meredith National Recreation Area. The McBride Ranch House is located in McBride Canyon adjacent to a semi-improved picnic and camping area near the southerly end of Lake Meredith in Potter County, Texas, and is under the administration in Sanford Recreation Area. The partial restoration, in general, will consist of stabilizing the fireplace, reconstructing the arches over the openings, repairs and repointing of stonework, and reconstruction of roof. Windows and doors will not be installed, and the interior will not be refinished. It is proposed that the building will constitute an in-place exhibit of a pioneer-built stone ranch house, and will illustrate the mode of pioneer life on the Canadian River in the Panhandle of Texas.
