Summary Report of Phase II of a Cultural Resources Inventory within Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve. Areas of investigation include the drainages of the North Fork of the Koyukuk and Itkillik and work was conducted in the summer of 1985. The purpose was to locate, identify, define, enumerate, and document historic and prehistoric cultural sites. Historical work was carried out by a team of five to seven National Park Service and Bureau of Land Management historians, resulting in the documentation of 36 historic sites and structures or structural complexes. The archaeological work, accomplished through reconnaissance-level, pedestrian, surface survey, identified and recorded 180 prehistoric sites.
