Text on the poster: "Spanning a little over a century, the American Periods encompass over 24 sites on the Guam Register of Historic Places. In addition, the American Periods include certain properties within two historic districts, two historic complexes and the War in the Pacific National Historical Park (WAPA). Of the 24 Guam Register historic properties, excluding historic districts, complexes and WAPA, 14 properties are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2001, the Guam Congress Building was listed on the Guam Register of Historic Places. In 2006, the historic building was included on the National Register of Historic Places. The Guam Congress Building symbolized the first established civilian Government of Guam in 1950. In 1911, Jose Pangelinan Lujan completed the construction of his two storey family house in Hagatna. In 1928, his house was leased to the Guam Institute. Founded in 1922 by Nieves Flores, the Guam Institute was one of the first non-denominational schools of in the First American Period." Project funding was provided in part by a Historic Preservation Fund grant to the Guam Historic Resources Division of the Department of Parks and Recreation, administered by the Pacific West Regional Office, National Park Service, U.S. Department of Interior (grant number 66-04-19360).
