Historic Structure Report, Content and Printing Prospectus: Boott Cotton Mills

The Boott Cotton Mills complex, a major feature within Lowell National Historical Park, is the key to realization of the overall concept for the park—revitalization of an important historic resource. Local and state governments are very interested in the park and especially in the development of Boott Mill for adaptive use and interpretive purposes. The history structure report for building 6 and attendant features and structures at the Boott Mill complex is intended to fulfill the requirements of package 117. The purpose of the HSR is to provide fundamental data to meet the National Park Service's goal of adaptively using the structures as the park's major interpretive facility. To this end the personnel of several National Park Service and private contractor offices are contributing to the final product. To coordinate these efforts, it has been decided to phase the review, approval, final printing, and distribution of what will be a multi-volume document, estimated to contain between 1,500 and 2,000 pages. This prospectus outlines and describes the various components in the series. It also presents a tentative schedule of when these items will be printed. Most printing is projected to be accomplished in FY 1985. However, the schedule will be subject to periodic review, and it will be revised if necessary to reflect unforeseen delays in production.
