Areas of Analysis for National Park Service Units based on 12-digit Hydrologic Unit Codes, Fall 2020
Kinseth M and Nelson L. 2021. Areas of Analysis for National Park Service Units based on 12-digit Hydrologic Unit Codes, Fall 2020. Data Release Report. NPS/NRSS/DRR—2021/10. National Park Service
This data report documents the acquisition, preparation and creation of National Park Service (NPS) HUC12 Areas of Analysis (AOAs) for use within the Inventory and Monitoring (I&M) Program. The HUC12 AOA dataset was updated through September 8, 2020 and supersedes all previous releases/versions. For all NPS unit boundary-derived park AOAs (Kinseth and Nelson 2021), all watersheds, or hydrologic units with 12-digit codes (HUC12), within or intersecting the boundary of the AOA are included in the HUC12 AOA dataset. The HUC12 AOA dataset is utilized within the I&M Program including but use is not limited to the NPS Environmental Settings protocol (DeVivo et al. 2018). AOA datasets documented in this report are intended only for use within the I&M Program and may not include all parks, units, or other areas of interest to the National Park Service.
