Independence National Historical Park preserves sites associated with the American Revolution and the nation's founding history in and around Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This Historic Structures Report concerns the interior of the Second Bank of the United States. This portion of the Architectural Data Section of the Historic Structures Report on the Second Bank deals with the proposed restoration and rehabilitation of the interior. Portions of the interior designated on William Strickland's plan as the vestibule, lobbies, transfer office, loan office, the president's office and the banking room will be restored. The entire first floor and the Chestnut Street end of the second floor will be devoted to the display of the large collection of historic paintings, portraits and prints now in the custody of Independence National Historical Park. The Library Street end of the second floor will house the offices of the museum branch of Independence Park and a large portion of the basement will be devoted to their work, storage and exhibit preparation areas.
