This report presents the physical condition and historical context of Fort Dupont. Fort Dupont was part of the ring of fortifications installed around Washington, D.C. during the Civil War. This report recommends restoring the fort's exterior and artillery and using it as an interpretive feature. This Historic Structure Report concerns Fort Dupont. Is is proposed that Fort Dupont parapets, gun platforms, flagstaff, ditch, abatis, gates, and exterior of the magazine will be restored and used to interpret the operation of an earthwork fort in the Civil War defenses of Washington.
