A new location in the Mentasta Mountains, Alaska was discovered for the globally rare Alaska endemic plant species, Cryptantha shackletteana. This note describes the details of this notable floristic discovery in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve.A sizable population of the species occurs in rock outcrops, bubble slopes and associated facies in calcium-rich marine sediments on southerly exposed slopes in the alpine zone.
