A brochure about the replacement or repair of wooden windows in historical buildings. "Most of the heat loss in a home is not through windows. In a traditionally constructed wood-frame building, more heat escapes through the roof and uninsulated wall cavities than through the windows. A historic wood window, when properly maintained and fitted with a storm window, can be just as energy efficient as a new window. It could take 100 years or more for a vinyl or aluminum replacement window to pay for itself in energy savings." Project funding was provided in part by a Historic Preservation Fund grant to the California Office of Historic Preservation, administered by the State, Tribal, Local Plans and Grants division, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior (grant number P18AF00112).
