Located in the Fisherman's Wharf neighborhood, San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park offers visitors the sights, sounds, smells and stories of Pacific Coast maritime history. The Park includes a fleet of historic ships, a Visitor Center, Maritime Museum, Maritime Research Center, and Aquatic Park Historic District. It is the intent of these Specifications and the accompanying Contract Plans to describe the re-structuring and restoration of an historic, turn of the century coastal steam schooner. This vessel is owned by the U.S. Government, and under the auspices of the National Parks Service. The vessel represents not only a segment of American maritime history, but a method of timber vessel construction apparently unique to the West Coast. Both the historic presence of the vessel and its construction arrangements are to be preserved through this restoration program.
