Saratoga National Historical Park is a National Historical Park located in the Town of Stillwater in eastern New York, forty miles north of Albany. The park preserves the site of the Battles of Saratoga. The sections of historic roads to be restored are portions of those that existed on the Neilson Farm, Barber Farm, Freeman Farm, in front of the Breymann Redoubt site, the Wilbur Farm, and the General Philip Schuyler Property. These roads will serve as interpretive exhibits and some as nature trails (history), as a part of the overall plan to restore the historic scene. They will be integrated into the interpretive program of Saratoga National Historical Park and contribute tremendously toward visitor under standing of the park story. The historic road restoration will consist of 2.3 miles of roads in the areas of the Park noted above. These were farm roads of dirt, possibly mixed with stream gravel, and should be restored as such. It is believed that there is adequate historical information and road traces to proceed with the restoration of the above roads, and any necessary archeological survey work, which will be minor, can be undertaken by the park staff.
