Archaeology Day 2017 Agenda
2017. Archaeology Day 2017 Agenda. Michigan State Historic Preservation Office; Michigan State Housing Development Authority; WKAR Family; Michigan History Center
"Welcome to Michigan Archaeology Day 2017. We think you're going to have a great time, whether this is your first Archaeology Day or you come every year. Archaeologists who work in Michigan are stationed throughout the first and second floors of the museum where they will tell you about their research, show you some of the artifacts they have found and answer your questions. In the Forum auditorium there will be presentations about archaeology as a career, early Native Americans, dugout canoes and early trade practices. We have hands-on activities for kids, you can watch a flintknapper make stone tools and everyone can try throwing a spear using a atlatl. We even have a room where you can help solve puzzles. Feeling adventurous? Participate in our new scavenger hunt to win a prize! So tour the galleries, have a seat in the auditorium, make a clay pinch pot, ask lots of questions...have fun!" Project funding was provided in part by a Historic Preservation Fund grant to the Michigan State Historical Preservation Office administered by the State, Tribe, Local Plans and Grants division, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior (P18AF00043).
