Executive Summary: "Richard Grubb & Associates, Inc. (RGA), with the cooperation of the Battlefield Restoration and Archaeological Volunteer Organization (BRAVO), and the Archaeological Services Center (ARCSERV) of Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), completed a Phase I archaeological survey of the proposed Princessville Historic Area on Block 5101, Lot 25, and a portion of Lot 26 in Lawrence Township, Mercer County, New Jersey. The Phase I archaeological survey consisted of background research, a metal detection survey conducted by BRAVO, and a geophysical survey conducted by ARCSERV, the latter specifically using ground penetrating radar (GPR) and electromagnetic conductivity methods to identify and map the locations of the former New Jersey Register (NJR) - and National Register of Historic Places (NRHP)-listed nineteenth and twentieth-century Princessville Inn, a former mid-nineteenth century Methodist Episcopal Church, and unmarked burials associated with the extant nineteenth- through early twentieth century Princessville Cemetery, all of which are documented on the property. The Phase I archaeological survey, completed on behalf of the Township of Lawrence, comprises Stage I of a two-stage project to develop public interpretation and programming for the historic area. RGA additionally conducted a public information tour and cemetery preservation workshop at the Princessville Cemetery upon completion of the survey." This survey has been redacted by the New Jersey Historic Preservation Office.
