From the Abstract: "The Reconnaissance-Level Architectural Survey of Haakon and Mellette Counties, South Dakota was conducted by Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT). The purpose of the project is to provide a comprehensive record of properties that are potentially eligible for the National Register of Historic Places and to update the record of those properties previously surveyed and determined eligible in Haakon and Mellette Counties... Fieldwork focused on two goals. The first goal of the survey was to update the record of those properties in Haakon and Mellette Counties previously surveyed and determined eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. The second goal of the survey was to record previously unidentified resources eligible for the National Register. Previously identified resources recommended Not Eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places were not reevaluated as part of this project..." Project funding was provided in part by a Historic Preservation Fund grant to the South Dakota State Historical Society administered by the State, Tribal, Local Plans and Grants division, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior (grant number P18AF00022).
