Vicksburg National Military Park preserves the site of the American Civil War Battle of Vicksburg, waged from March 29 to July 4, 1863. The park, located in Vicksburg, Mississippi (flanking the Mississippi River), also commemorates the greater Vicksburg Campaign which led up to the battle. The Gunboat Cairo, a full scale preserved exhibit, is completed and is ready for continuing janitorial and maintenance management. The surrounding site construction .completion is underway and Harpers Ferry on-site exhibits have been designed ready for execution. This document is intended to provide an interim preservation guideline and practical recommendations for park maintenance operations for care of the gunboat.
