Yosemite National Park is an American national park located in the western Sierra Nevada of Central California, bounded on the southeast by Sierra National Forest and on the northwest by Stanislaus National Forest. This Historic Structures Report concerns the Yosemite Chapel (Bldg. No. 580). The report proposes a set of construction activities: 1. stabilize structure by strengthening and/on replacing old materials as careful inspection shows necessary. Stabilize, raise, and level foundations and underpinning. 2. Rehabilitate exterior batten-and-board siding, windows, and roof. Paint to match original colors. 3. Remove linoleum, install new floor of original type wood. 4. Remove Celotex wall and ceiling covering and rehabilitate original wood surfaces beneath. 5. Remove the three large incandescent light fixtures. Install concealed fluorescent tubes in light troughs constructed in cross girders. Restore old style oil lamps, electrified with flicker bulbs where research and study shows them to have been placed. 6. Repaint interior, including pews 7. Install fire alarm system 8. Do other work as necessary and as may be revealed as overlying materials are removed.
