Historic Structures Report: The Ahwahnee

Architectural Resources Group, Inc.. 2001. Historic Structures Report: The Ahwahnee. Historic Structure Report. U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service

Yosemite National Park is an American national park located in the western Sierra Nevada of Central California, bounded on the southeast by Sierra National Forest and on the northwest by Stanislaus National Forest. Architectural Resources Group (ARG) has prepared The Ahwahnee Historic Structures Report (HSR) to further the project goal of rehabilitating The Ahwahnee, presently operated by Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts at Yosemite, Inc. (DNC) and owned by the National Park Service (NPS). Produced in conjunction with The Ahwahnee Cultural Landscape Report (CLR) prepared by AECOM, this document will serve as an update to the existing HSR for The Ahwahnee completed in 1997. The HSR and the CLR for The Ahwahnee are complementary volumes, with different focal points, although there will necessarily be some overlap of information. Both documents will be used to inform the development of a Comprehensive Rehabilitation Plan for The Ahwahnee, as well as to inform ongoing preservation and maintenance of the building. This HSR is ambitious in its goals for conveying information about the extraordinary qualities of The Ahwahnee’s design and construction through historical information, fine-grain existing conditions data, and forward-looking treatment recommendations. This HSR is comprised of three main parts: Part I - Developmental History, Part II - Condition Assessment, and Part III - Recommendations.
