This data set shows locations of non-native ("exotic") plant infestations as points within Glacier National Park as of December 1, 2023. There are two feature datasets that contain field data from 2004" infestation site location and species present (at each infestation site). These sites were field mapped using GPS and entered into the park's MS-Access exotic vegetation database, which describes infestations, treatments, and control efforts by site and is used as a population tracking/monitoring tool. Some populations in the Access database were discovered in the 1980s and continue to be tracked today. The data is displayed as point data, though populations may be discrete points, polygon areas, or linear (e.g. adjacent to roads). The data is also biased towards transportation corridors (roads, trails, floatable rivers) where exotic vegetation can be recorded in non-systematic (i.e. opportunistic) surveys. The GIS rendering of these data was created by: 1. export query from Access; 2. ArcGIS Pro display XY data; 3. convert XY table data to feature class; and 4. import feature class data to the geodatabase.
