The basis for this Historic Structures Report is (1) a careful study and evaluation of the Kolb House at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park to determine which portions are original and existed as part of the building during the battle of the Kolb Farm, June 1864, and (2) an investigation of approximately 50 structures within a radius of 75 miles to determine the character and design of those original portions of the building which had been removed or altered since June 1864. It also provides recommendations about the use of the house after its restoration. This is shown in a drawing that is included as part of the report. The report recommends that the Kolb House be restored to its appearance on June 1864, the interior be modified to provide modern living facilities, and that such modification be done in a way to preserve the original structure under modern fabric. This report is preceded by memos and correspondence exchanged between the report author (Architect Charles Grossman), the Eastern Office, Design and Construction, the Regional Director, and Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park.
