This Part II report was prepared to record the new information and conclusions of a recent architectural investigation of the Stone House conducted during the fall and winter of 1960. It is intended to supplement the Architectural Data Section, Part I, Historic Structures Report. The Part II report attempts to show the condition of the Stone House at the time of the First and Second Battles of Manassas, 1861-62 and is the final summation of conferences and discussions about the proposed restoration of the Stone House. The Stone House likely began as a tavern in 1828, the same year that the turnpike was completed to Warrenton. It is also thought that the house was left in an unfinished state of completion, undergoing changes to the interior over a long period of years. The report describes the building history and development, comparable structures, the findings of architectural investigations, cost estimate for the proposed work, and illustrations.
