Summary of Achievements: "President Proclamation No. 15-154 by President Tommy E. Remengesau Jr. declared the week of May 18-22 of each year as 'Palau Archaeology and Heritage Awareness Week'. The Bureau of Cultural and Historical Preservation shall be the leading office to execute Presidential Proclamation. This year 2016 marked as the 1st annual Palau Archaeology and Heritage Awareness week but because the 12th Festival of Pacific Arts that was held this year on May 22 - June 3, 2016 the Bureau of Cultural and Historical Preservation was not able to fully implement the project such as holding activities and programs for this event. Instead, the Bureau of Cultural and Historical Preservation only printed fifteen (15) back to back 2'x4' banners to be hanged at the side of the road as part of the awareness of the Palau's Archaeology and Heritage. In addition, the Bureau updated and reprinted the 16 cultural and historical preservation sites posters in 2'x3' to be distributed in sets to both public and private schools. Lastly the Bureau purchased some items for giveaways which include 50 key chains, 100 drawstring bags, and 50 car stickers with designs provided by the Bureau. The giveaways items will be used as prized for callers who call in and answer the Bureau's questions during the Bureau's talk show programs as part of the awareness and education of Palau's heritage." Project funding was provided in part by a Historic Preservation Fund grant to the Palau Historic Preservation Office, Bureau of Cultural & Historical Preservation, Ministry of Community and Cultural Affairs, administered by the Pacific West Regional Office, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior (grant number P15AF00111).
