2012. Final Project Outline Report Fiscal Year 2010 Special Project - Palau National Register of Historic Places Project #3: Condition Assessment and Preservation Recommendations of Japanese World War II Structures in Peleliu. Palau Historic Preservation Office, Bureau of Arts and Culture, Ministry of Community and Cultural Affairs

From the Summary of Achievements: "On April 26, 2013, Committee Members convened to review and rate four bid proposals for the Condition Assessment and Preservation Recommendations of Japanese World War II Structures in Peleliu State. ...Based on points gathered and estimated budget, the Committee selected Stanley O. Graves, AIA Historical Architect based on their reasonable budget so that other costs (living expense in Peleliu) can be covered. The project logistical arrangement including contracts were being prepared for final review by NPS and signing. Actual project date, on-site Peleliu was set for July 5-17, 2013. The new dates were decided based on the living conditions in Peleliu after Super Typhoon Bopha. The office got full support of the Peleliu Governor and he was very excited to get information on preservation measures for the buildings selected because they are widely used by the community as typhoon shelters as well tourist visiting areas. The project concluded on September 30, 2013 however comments were still being gathered from the various reviewers until October 30, 2013. The final product was sent to Palau via Post Office mail on December 22, 2013. At this time, the office was unsure of the final product was to make it on time therefore requested for a Project Extension on June 7, 2013 and was approved by NPS on July 11, 2014 for project end date on September 30, 2014...." Project funding was provided in part by a Historic Preservation Fund grant to the Palau Historic Preservation Office, Bureau of Arts and Culture, Ministry of Community and Cultural Affairs, administered by the Pacific West Regional Office, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior (grant number 70-10-21964).
