Final Project Outline Report Fiscal Year 2012 Special Project - Palau National Register of Historic Places Project #1: Site Rehabilitation and Conservation Project, Olsechall ra Ruchel, Angaur State. Palau Historic Preservation Office, Bureau of Arts and Culture, Ministry of Community & Cultural Arts

Summary of Achievements: "The site is located on top of a ridge in Angaur State. The site is very important in Palau oral history as it is the birthplace of our social structure and the protocols that govern social organization of our island. The Olsechall ra Rucel project was very successful as it met the scope of work presented in the grant application and deadline of project completion. However, during the Super Typhoon Haiyan, the site was destroyed. The Angaur State Government has informed the Bureau that it will restore the site early next year (2015)." Project funding was provided in part by a Historic Preservation Fund grant to the Palau Historic Preservation Office, Bureau of Arts and Culture, Ministry of Community & Cultural Arts, administered by the Pacific West Regional Office, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior (grant number 70-12-41964).
