Summary of Achievements: "The nomination and registration of 10 sites per year is ambitious however the actual human resource needed to gather information and proper paper work is absent. The significant sites proposed (12 sites) for FY'08 were carefully evaluated by the Board. The Board conducted two official meetings on June 15, 2011 and August 26, 2011 to evaluate all the nominees for inclusion on the register. On June 15, 2011, the Board reviewed three nominations: 1) Todai (Lighthouse) B:NM-2:14 in Bkulngriil, Ngeremlengui. The Board member for Ngeremlengui moved to defer the nomination since the property is located on private land; 2) Roismelech Terrace B:ME-4:3 in Ngermelech, Melekeok. After nomination review, the site was approved; and 3) Ngchesechang Traditional Village B:IR-6:8 in Ngchesechang, Airai. The Board member from Airai requested to defer the site for she wanted to gather further information. On August 26, 2011, the Board reviewed two nominations: 1) Wakui Police Station B:NT-4:3 in Ngatpang and 2) Ngerbelau Traditional Village B:NG-2:1 in Angaur. Both sites were deferred since there were no Board members representing both states during the meeting. The deferred sites will be put on hold until further action notice by the Board." Project funding was provided in part by a Historic Preservation Fund grant to the Palau Historic Preservation Office, Bureau of Arts and Culture, Ministry of Community & Cultural Affairs, administered by the Pacific West Regional Office, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior (grant number 70-10-2164).
