2008. Research Library Annual Report 2007-2008. Palau Historic Preservation Office, Bureau of Arts and Culture, Ministry of Community and Cultural Affairs
Summary: "In short, the purpose of the Library is to safeguard printed, audio and visual cultural and historical heritage of Palau, and related matters and to preserve them for the sake of our identity that sets us apart from the rest of the world, as well as to maintain and preserve them for future generations. Nonetheless, timing is crucial in the mission to collect record and preserve and historical and cultural documents of Palau. The result of the Library Inventory Project provides a very clear picture of BAC's progress on collecting and documenting archaeological inventory surveys and collection of oral histories. Further, the result of the inventory gives the Director and Section Heads to re-evaluate their strategies in accomplishing the Bureau's goals and objectives. The immediate core business of this Bureau is to race against time to record and collect all historical and cultural significance of each state before the knowledgeable elders of each state perish." Project funding was provided in part by a Historic Preservation Fund grant to the Palau Historic Preservation Office, Bureau of Arts and Culture, Ministry of Community and Cultural Affairs, administered by the Pacific West Regional Office, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior.
