Smaserui M. 2006. Bureau of Arts and Culture Research Library Progressive Report 2006. Palau Historic Preservation Office, Bureau of Arts and Culture, Ministry of Community and Cultural Affairs
Overview: "The Bureau of Arts and Culture Research Library is a non-circulating reference library for the use of the Bureau personnel and public. The library is located at the Civic Center building within the Palau Register section. Bureau of Arts and Culture received news within the month of September 2006 that the Ministry of Community and Cultural Affairs (located at Civic Center) they ll be moving into their new office at the new capitol in Ngerulmud, Melekeok. So the Ministry decided that the Bureau of Arts and Culture should move into the Civic Center for the sake of conserving energy use, considering we could save money by maintaining two offices rather than three. Therefore, in the month of October we relocated from our offices to the Civic Center. The library has a collection of approximately 500 monographs, over 200 video cassettes and audio cassettes and more than 300 photographs. This collection consists of reports and publications concerning Palau, Micronesia, and the Pacific." The library catalog records the materials in the Research Library: books, reference materials, periodicals, articles, video cassettes, and audio tapes. Project funding was provided in part by a Historic Preservation Fund grant to the Palau Historic Preservation Office, Bureau of Arts and Culture, Ministry of Community and Cultural Affairs, administered by the Pacific West Regional Office, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior.
