The people from the islands of Oceania are descended from voyagers that first left Southeast Asia thousands of years ago. Through sophisticated deep sea navigation, they found and settled islands across the region. Using archaeology, the path and culture of these early voyagers is now being understood, showing the similarities between these people. Project funding was provided in part by a Historic Preservation Fund grant to the Federated States of Micronesia Historic Preservation Program, FSM National Government, administered by the Pacific West Regional Office, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior.
