There are many questions that remain about the Chamorro people of the past, including their origins, how they viewed the multiple invading forces that came to their island, and how they felt about the bombardment of Guam in December 1941, obscured by the contemporaneous bombing of Pearl Harbor. However, the Chamorro had much to say about the atrocities they suffered during the Japanese Imperial Era as recorded by later oral histories. Project funding was provided in part by a Historic Preservation Fund grant to the Guam State Historic Preservation Office, Department of Parks and Recreation, administered by the Pacific West Regional Office, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior.
