This Historic Structure Report for the White Pass and Yukon Route Broadway Depot and General Offices Building, part of Klondike Goldrush National Historic Park, fulfills the requirements of the Task Directive for Package 104. Alternative treatments for the structures are presented, including the recommended treatment. The report is intended to provide recommendation for actions to be taken at the region's and park's discretion. The report is divided into administrative data, historical data, and physical analysis of the site, Skagway Depot, General Offices, and bridges. The report includes photos and drawings of recommended treatment. The master park plan identified these buildings as 36A and 36B. The recommendation is to restore the exterior of the structures to the 1908-1915 period. The interior would be rehabilitated as needed to provide a functional visitor center and park offices, while conserving the historic fabric. The first floor of the railroad building would house offices for U.S. Customs, orientation for the Chilkoot Trail, and an auditorium. Staff offices would be on the second floor. The depot first floor would house exhibits and interpretation space, and some second floor space would be utilized as artifact archive storage.
