This Historic Structure Preservation Guide (HSPG) was prepared in compliance with the NPS Cultural Resources Management Guidelines (NPS-28), which requires that such a document be prepared when a historic structure has received its ultimate treatment. The purpose of the guide is to provide maintenance personnel with an information base for budgeting and performing routine and cyclic maintenance of historic buildings at Klondike gold Rush National Historical Park. The maintenance treatments in this guide have been chosen to maintain authenticity of appearance and serviceability. The HSPG contains detailed schedules and instructions relative to maintenance procedures, and it is intended to ensure consistency in materials and procedures even if there are personnel changes. The document was intended to be a working document, actively used by park maintenance staff. The three basic sections of the guide correspond to three companion volumes. In Volume 2, the four sections with schedule and inspection details are repeated for each building. In Volume 3, reference material for each of the individual buildings is contained in a separate document.
