This publication is the result of a Task Force of the American Society of Landscape Architects, written and edited by Lane Marshall of Texas A&M University. In November of 1980, ASLA President William Behnke appointed a special Task Force on "Landscape Architecture Into the 21st Century," the result of a conference at Gwinn Estate earlier that year. The Task Force was charged with identifying ASLA's role in leading the profession ahead and asked to report at the ASLA Annual Meeting in November 1981.
