The Index of Architecturally Historic Structures in New York City is a list of buildings selected by a joint committee of the Municipal Art Society and Society of Architectural Historians within the five boroughs of the city, built before 1930, that are worthy of preservation for their architectural merit and importance without consideration for any other historical associations. The list of buildings has been classified according to four categories of importance and ten letter alphabetical codes for particular significance. Building names, architect, date of origin, style, and significant features are noted in the inventory.
