Historic Sites Report: Spanish Colonial Sites in the Panama Canal Zone

Manuncy A and Gagliano JA. 1958. Historic Sites Report: Spanish Colonial Sites in the Panama Canal Zone. Historic Structure Report. U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service

This Historic Sites Report, part of a National Survey of Historic Sites and Buildings, documents the history and features of four Spanish colonial sites in the Panama Canal Zone. Each of these is connected with the history of transport across the Isthmus when Portobelo town on the Caribbean and Panama on the Pacific were strong links in the chain of commerce between Spain and its South American provinces. Documentation of the trails, forested areas, trenches, ruins, and forts is included.
