Our laboratory seeks to understand the mode by which chronic wasting disease (CWD) is transmitted among cervids, how the causative agent is shed, how the causative prion enters and progresses through the deer's body, and mean by which the infection might be prevented. Vital to this research is obtaining fresh body fluids, excreta, and tissues from deer and elk with naturally occurring CWD as well as CWD naive control excreta and tissues.
