Executive Summary: "At the request of the Trenton-Dade County Historic Preservation Commission, the Dade County Board of Commissioners, and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Historic Preservation Division (GA HPD), the following proposal has been prepared by Cumberland Applied Research Associates, Inc. (CARA) to conduct a Phase I historic resources survey of all historic buildings, structures, sites, or objects within the city limits of Trenton, Dade County, Georgia. The Phase I historic resources survey consisted of a review of all relevant literature and records from state and local sources, a field survey and inventory of all resources which are 40 years of age or older within the city limits of Trenton, Georgia, and limited recommendations for resource eligibility for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). This report summarizes all inventoried resources and recommendations. Fieldwork documented and assessed 498 resources for potential eligibility. Of these, 476 resources met the criteria to be recorded as per Georgia Historic Preservation standards and guidelines. All others (22 total) were indicated by Dade County Tax Assessor's records as being of an age appropriate to be recorded but were found to have been demolished or incorrectly listed...." Project funding was provided in part by a Historic Preservation Fund grant to the Georgia Historic Preservation Division, Department of Natural Resources, administered by the State, Tribal, Local Plans and Grants division, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior (grant number P19AF00220).
