Phenological responses to changes in climate by giant saguaro cacti (Carnegiea gigantea)

Winterbottom C. Phenological responses to changes in climate by giant saguaro cacti (Carnegiea gigantea). Research Permit and Reporting System

This experiment indicated that 80% of seed set seen in saguaro can be attributed to pollination by bees, whereas the other 20% is attributed to birds. Additionally, there was not a significant difference between bagging treatments which indicated that saguaro is not pollen limited, they are self-incompatible, and these data also support that there was little to no nighttime pollination happening. Birds were the most important visitors of saguaro given they visit a lots of flowers in a short time
