Geomorphic and sediment transport dynamics of the Rio Grande in and near Big Bend National Park
Dean D and Edwards H. Geomorphic and sediment transport dynamics of the Rio Grande in and near Big Bend National Park. Research Permit and Reporting System
The purpose of this study is to use real-time suspended-sediment measurements to inform trends and magnitudes of geomorphic change. This segment of river is severely altered by upstream water diversions and dams, and stream flow is affected by bilateral negotiations concerning the transfer of stream flow from the Rio Conchos within Mexico to the Rio Grande downstream. These data will provide much needed information to regional environmental managers with regards to on-the-ground river rehabilit
