This historic structure report (HSR) was prepared by Oehrlein & Associates Architects for the National Park Service (NPS) to document the developmental history and use of the Daniel Klingel Farmhouse at Gettysburg National Military Park. The goal of the HSR was to identify and document the original appearance and evolution of the house to its present form. Of specific interest is the building configuration at the time of the Battle of Gettysburg, July 1-3, 1863, the period of significance for the Park and the Klingel Farmhouse. The HSR provides a written description and photographic documentation of the current physical appearance of the Klingel Farmhouse. In addition, the HSR documents the "character-defining features" of the structure, and provides treatment recommendations for the preservation of the extant 1863 and pre-1863 architectural materials and elements while upgrading the interior for contemporary livable conditions, including kitchen, bathroom and mechanical systems.
