Historic Structures Report, Addendum: Memorial House and Colonial Kitchen
Brooks LR. 2016. Historic Structures Report, Addendum: Memorial House and Colonial Kitchen. Historic Structure Report. U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service. Lowell, Massachusetts
In June 2009, Architectural Conservator James E. Toner and Architectural Historian Heather A. Miller began investigating George Washington National Birthplace Monument's Memorial House and Colonial Kitchen in order to produce a Historic Structures Report. In 2010, they submitted a 95% draft report for official review. Although the HSR was nearly complete, it was never finalized. Since that time, regular building maintenance and multiple rehabilitation projects have been completed within both structures. The purpose of this project is to complete the HSR by creating an addendum that brings documentation of the Memorial House and Colonial Kitchen structural evolution up-to-date. This addendum includes a chronology of development covering the time period of 2009 to October 2016, along with a limited conditions assessment and recommendations.
