This historic structure report focuses on the Ironmaster’s House located within Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site. The purpose of this report is to fully document the building, as well as to achieve several service-wide goals: to provide baseline research for the Ironmaster’s House, which is needed to support appropriate stabilization and repairs; to inform and support future treatment and management decisions through documentary evidence and research; to address a threatened resource which has been subject to deferred maintenance and progressive deterioration; and to address a nationally significant resource which is designated as a contributing resource within a National Register Historic District.
