Historic Structure Report: Appomattox Plantation Outbuildings

The COLLABORATIVE Inc. and Atkinson Noland & Associates, Inc.. 2017. Historic Structure Report: Appomattox Plantation Outbuildings. Historic Structure Report. U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service

The purpose of this project is to produce a Historic Structure Report (HSR) for the outbuildings. The report includes a Management Summary; Part 1: Developmental History, as well as measured drawings and photographic documentation drawings of the buildings. Part 2: Treatment and Use. The goal of the project is to identify and document the original appearance, integrity, and historic evolution of the buildings; identify their 1864-1865 appearance; and recommend treatment strategies that best preserve the extant 1865 and pre-1865 architectural materials and character defining features. This document is needed to guide future management of the Appomattox Manor’s Four Outbuildings. This HSR will serve to guide treatment selection and work recommendations for the purpose of interpreting the property. Presently, the National Park Service preserves and interprets the Appomattox Manor’s four outbuildings.
