Archeological Investigations, Harpers Ferry, Wager Block Backyards
Pousson JF. 1986. Archeological Investigations, Harpers Ferry, Wager Block Backyards
Archeological excavations were conducted in the backyards of the Wager Block, Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, during 1979 and 1980 to mitigate the effects of construction and landscaping and to acquire data regarding the nineteenth century characteristics of the yards and of the people who used them. The findings of the excavations, which revealed a complex array of strata and features and helped secure a large collection of historic artifacts, are presented, together with background information, interpretations, and recommendations.
