Ohanapecosh Campground Mount Rainier National Park: Rehabilitation Proposal and Design Guidelines 2018

Anderson B and Moss S. 2021. Ohanapecosh Campground Mount Rainier National Park: Rehabilitation Proposal and Design Guidelines 2018. National Park Service

The purpose of this rehabilitation proposal and design guidelines is to improve the visitor experience and resource conditions within the Ohanapecosh Campground. The project seeks to maintain a variety of camping experiences, improve the campsite selection and reservation process, reduce impacts to vegetation and riparian areas, and provide design guidelines to ensure that maintenance and repairs are consistent with the campground’s historic character-defining features. The project team recognizes that the tools provided by this plan will also require adequate enforcement and campground management to achieve the desired conditions described. The National Park Service is in the process of finalizing national guidelines for campground development. The Mount Rainier NP staff are closely tracking the progress of the national guidelines and when final, will draw on them to augment the design guidance herein.
