An Interpretive Prospectus for Gateway NRA was prepared in 1978 which contained proposals for Staten Island. This preliminary parkwide prospectus was concurrent with the General Management Plan/Development Concept Plan of 1979. An amendment to the GMP was completed in 1989 in response to changes in conditions at Great Kills Park, where major development of visitor facilities is proposed. This prospectus will provide direction to interpretive developments and programs for Staten Island Unit, including Great Kills. In the event that areas of Fort Wadsworth are added to the park, the prospectus would need to be amended.
